Week of September 15, 2014

JoJo Curiel

JoJo Curiel provided an offensive spark for the Kingsmen during a 42-24 loss to Willamette (Ore.) in the Cal Lutheran home opener. The junior accumulated a game-best 185 all-purpose yards with 151 on kick returns, 32 receiving and a pair on punt returns. No play in the game was more exciting than his 97 yard return for a touchdown early in the second quarter against the Bearcats.

Michelle Lawrence

In the only match of the week for the No. 3 Cal Lutheran volleyball team, sophomore Michelle Lawrence propelled the Regals to a 3-1 victory over Pomona-Pitzer to open league play. The outside hitter put down 22 kills and added 20 digs for her sixth double-double of the season. She was instrumental in earning key points throughout the four games. At 6-foor-3 she provided five block assists and at the service line she recorded an ace as well.  Lawrence averaged 5.5 kills, 5.0 digs and 1.25 blocks per set, for 6.5 points per game. This season she is hitting at a .308 clip with a team-leading 178 kills.

Lawrence has been selected as the CLU Athlete of the Week twice this fall.
