Hayley Tamagni


Hayley Tamagni had a standout week offensively and defensively as the No. 3 Regals went 4-0 and captured at least a share of its fourth consecutive conference title. In the four matches, Tamagni tallied 30 kills to just three errors on 66 swings (.413 avg.), with 12 digs and 9.5 blocks. On Tuesday at Chapman, Tamagni had six kills on 14 chances with no errors (.429) and then had a career game against No. 23 Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, recording nine block assists to go along with nine kills, three assists, a solo stop and an ace. On Saturday, Tamagni combined for 15 kills, including a game-high 10 against Redlands, nine blocks and six digs as CLU defeated both UC Santa Cruz and Redlands 3-0 to remain undefeated in Division III action this year.

Water Polo

Mike Arteaga scored a hat-trick on Wednesday afternoon with two goals in the second overtime, including the game-winner at the buzzer as CLU defeated Whittier 14-13. Entering the second overtime, Cal Lutheran trailed 13-12 before Arteaga scored the equalizing goal with 37 seconds left. With the final seconds ticking, Arteaga collected a loose ball and sent in a floater from 10 meters out that sailed over the Poets goalie for the game-winner. He added two drawn ejections and also came up with a steal in the win.
