SCIAC Athlete of the Week

Taylor Will helped Cal Lutheran to a perfect week and grab sole possession of the SCIAC lead after scoring five goals in three games. Last Wednesday, CLU squared off with Pomona-Pitzer in a showdown between the top two teams in the SCIAC. Against the Sagehens, Will scored two goals including the equalizer in 88th minute, forcing overtime. On Saturday against Redlands, Will helped CLU rally from a 2-0 deficit when she scored two more goals including the game-winner 15 seconds into the second overtime. Sunday against UC Santa Cruz, Will broke a 0-0 tie in the 51st minute when she scored her eighth goal of the year as CLU went on to win 3-0.

Anthony Monroe

Anthony Monroe nearly led Cal Lutheran to its 29th straight SCIAC victory by recording 11.5 tackles against Redlands including 2.5 for loss. Monroe along with his defensive mates held Redlands to just 206 yards rushing only a week after the Bulldogs ran for 424. Monroe’s 11.5 total tackles were five more than the next Kingsmen defender and marked his third career game with 10 or more stops in a game.
