Jayvaughn Nettles

Jayvaughn Nettles averaged 16 points per game at the 2012 Thrivent Financial Tournament hosted by Cal Lutheran. He led the Kingsmen to a 1-1 record with 32 total points and connected for six three-pointers. The senior forward finished with seven rebounds, six steals and four assists on the weekend. Nettles paced all players with 20 points on 7-for-14 shooting in a victory over Northland. In a tough loss to always competitive Williams, Nettles tallied four steals and handed out three assists while pouring in 12 points for a share of the team lead.

SCIAC Athlete of the Week

Starla Wright was named the 2012 Posada Royale Winter Classic Most Outstanding Player after leading the Regals to a 2-0 weekend as she averaged 17.5 points per game. The senior from Los Angeles, Calif. was the lone Regals player in double-figures as Cal Lutheran overcame a 17-point second half deficit to defeat Scranton 44-42 on day one of the tournament. She finished with a 14-point, 13-rebounds double-double and was responsible for the game-winning basket. Going up against UC Santa Cruz on Monday, Wright continued her versatile ways, scoring 21 points while also recording six steals in CLU's 66-58 victory over the Slugs. Overall in 2012 Wright is averaging over 16 points and nine rebounds per game. She was named the SCIAC Athlete of the Week for her performance (Dec. 17-Jan. 1, 2013).
