Michael Palmer

Basketball

Michael Palmer averaged 10 points per game and led the Kingsmen to back-to-back wins, including a 71-51 SCIAC opening night victory over Caltech. He poured in 16 on 6-for-8 shooting against the Beavers and went 3-for-4 at the line. In the two games he came down with eight rebounds, three on the offensive end of the court, adding a pair of steals, a pair of blocks and a pair of assists. The junior guard averaged 22.5 minutes per game.


Jazmyne Porter

Basketball

Jazmyne Porter led the Regals to a 3-0 week in which Cal Lutheran upset NAIA No. 7 Westmont and earned their first SCIAC victory of the season. Porter averaged 13.7 points per game with seven assists, five steals and 4.7 rebounds per game. Playing in 24 minutes per game, she shot .500 from the floor, connecting on 14-for-28 attempts, including six from long range. Of her 14 rebounds, three were on the offensive end. Against Whitworth to start the week she scored 17. In CLU’s victory over Westmont, she scored just six, but was a presence on the court playing tough defense for the Regals. In the SCIAC opener, Porter paced the pack with 18 points on 7-for-9 shooting while also going 4-for-5 at the free-throw line. The senior came away with four steals, forcing multiple other Caltech turnovers.
