Men's Water Polo

In his first career collegiate start, the freshman net minder made seven saves as Cal Lutheran earned its second victory of the season.

The Kingsmen avenged an earlier overtime loss to Fresno Pacific this season by defeating the Sunbirds 13-11 at the Lancer Invite this past Friday.

Verlinich leads CLU goalkeepers with three steals, two assists and a 10.51 goals against average thus far in 2010.

Women's Soccer

The senior forward recorded her second career hat trick as Cal Lutheran remained unbeaten (7-0-1) and is off to its best start in program history.

During a 6-1 victory over La Verne on Saturday, Clark scored her first two of the day inside the 14 minute mark and completed the feat in the 63rd minute. Early in the second half she also contributed her second assist of the season and currently leads the team with 14 total points.

Clark leads the SCIAC in shots taken (36) and game-winning goals (2), and ranks second in points per game (1.75), goals (6) and goals per game (0.75).

Rachel Smith


The sophomore outside contributed 24 kills over three matches as the Cal Lutheran volleyball team earned a trio of victories via sweep over Whittier, La Verne and Caltech, respectively.

In the team's first sweep of ULV since 1998, Smith contributed seven kills and hit .353 for the match (7K-1E-17TA) along with seven digs.

On the road against the Poets she recorded 17 digs posting a weekly match-high for the Regals. In that victory she again went for seven kills on only 15 total attempts.

Capping the week off at home against the Beavers, Smith hit at a season-high .474 clip leading all players with 10 kills on only 19 attempts.

For the week she ranked second on the squad in digs (29) and kills (24).
